Cranbrook Golf Club – COVID-19 Best Practices

We are pleased to announce that The Cranbrook Golf Club is open to members, their guests and the public.  We have implemented a number of protocols to aid in the health, safety and enjoyment of golfers and employees while on the property.  We ask that all people visiting the Cranbrook Golf Club during this time observe the protocols that the Club has put into place for the everyone’s safety.

We continue to monitor the recommendations made by the Provincial Health Officer and Federal authorities so it is important to review this page frequently as it is updated on a regular basis.


All customers and staff must maintain a physical distance of 6 feet from others (essentially one club length of free relief from all individuals) through out the entire property.

  • Masks must be worn in all common areas of the Club, including hallways, locker rooms, washrooms, offices and the Golf Shop, as well as when physical distancing is difficult outdoors.
    • Masks may be taken off when:
      • On the golf course and able to maintain physical distancing
      • When sharing a cart with someone from your core bubble.
  • Stay at home if you or anyone in your household have symptoms of COVID-19 or feel sick in any manner at all.
  • Self-isolate for 14 days when you return to BC from outside Canada or after you had contact with anyone who has COVID.
  • All customers and staff must maintain a physical distance of 6 feet from others (essentially one club length of free relief from all individuals)
  • Limit all interactions at the Club, and stay within your own core bubble to the best of your ability.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes in your elbow and wash or sanitize your hands frequently
  • Please bring your own hand sanitizer or wipes to the golf course
  • Please bring your own drinking water if you are using a refillable water bottle.
  • Walking is encouraged as power carts will be very limited as they will be in high demand.
  • Please post your scores from your home computer or mobile app if possible (Golf Canada)
  • Please replace handshakes with other touch-less forms of greeting
  • If possible, please arrive no more than 30 minutes before your starting time.

Golf Shop Operations

  • The golf course will be opening to Members and the Public with the following booking procedures:
    • Members can book ONE WEEK in advance
    • Public can book 6 DAYS in advance
  • The Golf Shop continues to sanitize high touch areas:
    • Washrooms
    • Counters
    • Merchandise
    • Golf Carts
    • Entrances (door handles etc.)
    • The Golf Shop will be open for business
  • The Golf Shop is open for business but the number of patrons in the Golf Shop at any one time will be restricted to 6 individuals.
  • Credit and Debit card transactions are encouraged when paying for services while cash transactions are still accepted.
  • Sanitization stations will be located at the golf shop and other entrances that include wipes and hand sanitizers.
  • Bag storage WILL be available for the 2021 golf season (members)
    • Pick up and drop off of bags will continue in the same fashion as previous years.
    • No entry into the back shop area will be allowed for members or guests
    • If you require something from your bag or stall , please ask the Golf Shop/Back Shop attendant.
  • Rental clubs will be limited so it is in your best interest to bring your own clubs.
  • Walk ons are available but it is encouraged that everyone book a starting time (t-time) as tee times will be in high demand.
  • Starting times will continue to be at 10 minute intervals creating more spacing between golfers and less golfers gathering before their start time (first month)
  • Golfers are asked to try and maintain the gap between groups as playing through is strongly discouraged.
  • Scorecards, pencils, ball markers and ball mark repair tools will be available in the golf shop or upon request.

Power Carts

  • There can be 2 riders per cart if the following criteria is met:
    • Both parties live at the same address
    • Both parties arrive to the golf course in the same vehicle
    • Both parties are in each others social hub
    • Most importantly both parties have to be comfortable with riding in the the same cart
  • New Power cart rental pricing:
    • Member Pricing
      • 18 Holes per rider – $17.00
      • 9 Holes per rider – $10.00
      • Twilight per rider – $13.00
      • Request single rider – $25.00
    • Public Pricing
      • 18 Holes per rider – $19.00
      • 9 Holes per rider – $14.00
      • Twilight per rider – $15.00
      • Request single rider – $25.00
  • Dispose of all trash from your power cart in the on-course trash cans as much as possible.
  • Continued enhanced cleaning (disinfecting) after each use of frequently touched surfaces on golf carts. (steering wheel, seats, etc.)

Golf Course Operations

  • Please do not touch or remove flagsticks from the hole
  • Holes have been manipulated to make ball retrieval easy with very little contact
  • Rakes have been removed from the bunkers so players are required to smooth out bunkers with their foot on exit.
    • Players will be provided free relief in a bunker if your ball lands in an area that was not raked (nearest point of relief in the bunker)
  • Practice green flags have been replaced with stationary flags
  • Ball washers have been removed
  • Drinking fountains on course will be shut down.


  • On course washrooms will be open once the irrigation has been turned on.
  • Washrooms will be sanitized on a regular basis
  • Clubhouse washrooms will be open for use.

Driving Range Operations

  • Open for normal day use (golfers with and without starter times) based on availability.
  • Range tokens are sanitized each night after use
  • Range balls are sanitized each night
  • Range ball baskets are wiped down with disinfect wipes each night
  • Hitting stalls are set up to allow for appropriate social distancing

Staff Expectations

  • If you are sick or showing any symptoms please stay home
  • All staff must maintain a physical distance of 6 feet from others
  • Cover coughs and sneezes, and wash or sanitize your hands frequently
  • Increased communication and educating staff about the symptoms, risks and ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19
  • Having staff wear protective gloves where and when it is applicable.


  • The restaurant will be open for regular business with appropriate protocols in place.
  • With in the restaurant/lounge/kiosk MASKS must be worn when:
      • Entering/exiting the facility
      • Waiting for a table or to pick up food
      • Walking through the restaurant/lounge
    • Masks may be taken off when:
      • Sitting at your table in the restaurant/lounge
  • Maximum table size of 6 persons.  Larger groups must be divided to meet the 6 person table limit
  • Tables and chairs cannot not be moved or re-organized
  • Patrons must remain seated at the table to which they are assigned except to access self-serve food stations, use washroom facilities, or leave the premises.
  • Liquor must be ordered at a patrons’s seat, and served only to seated patrons.
  • Liquor may only be served and consumed between 11am and 10pm.
  • Patrons CAN NOT circulate between tables or in common areas of the restaurant.  They also CAN NOT stop at tables to chat as they walk through the room.
  • Utilize the appropriate entry and exit doors (please follow the direction arrows)
  • Wait to be seated.  The staff will collect the first and last name and phone number of at least one person at each table for contact tracing.
  • Maximum capacity of 70 people in the restaurant/lounge, 36 people in the founders room and 41 pople on the deck.
  • The Food and Beverage facility will close promptly at the designated close times.

The Board of Directors and Staff at the Cranbrook Golf Club continue to take this situation very seriously and with the correct procedures in place we feel many people will be able to enjoy some outside activities in a social setting.

Individuals not following the above protocol will be asked to leave and unfortunately will be flagged and will not be able to book a starting time for a certain duration.

In order for all the above practices to be effective everyone will have to work together as a team.
